9 Cycles of the Mayan Calendar

The Mayan calendar is humanity's best source of information about the future and the rhythm of our current phase of evolution, known as the Galactic Underworld.

A key concept for understanding this evolution is the Global Brain: The crystalline core of the Earth acts as a crystal skull that relays the cosmic information to the human beings and the prophetic Mayan calendar provides the rhythm for this.

The Cosmic Time Plan according to the Mayan calendar is the cycles of time which match important periods in the evolutionary data banks of Earth and the Milky Way Galaxy and that the calendar describes the evolutionary stage to come as an ongoing process of Enlightenment of humanity (Evolution of Consciousness), referred to as the awakening of the World Mind, with the 13 Crystal Skulls of ancient Maya prophecy also playing a role.

The basic concept involves the use of 3 Calendars that work together (even though the Maya actually utilized as many as 17 different calendars for various purposes).

Haab (Earth Seasonal) – 365 day calendar. Only used for bookkeeping and records (i.e., taxes - ironically this is the one we Westerners cherish!).

Tzolkin (Count of Days) – 13 intentions, 20 aspects - 260 day calendar – personal/astrological calendar – all Mayan First Names are the day’s intention/aspect (energy). Every day was a sacred event and held a unique intention/aspect combination to be celebrated.

Tun (Divine/Prophetic) – 360 day calendar. Every 52 revolutions meets up with original point on Tzolkin calendar. At this point, all coals and all sparks in civilization were put out, and all debts were absolved. At age 51 and ¾, Mayan and Native American cultures regarded their members as "elders" because they had lived through the entire cycle.

In the Jewish Bible, Leviticus 25:10

"And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubilee unto you; And ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family." 

A portion of this verse is inscribed on the Liberty Bell - yet I don't remember my debts being absolved every 50-ish years... wonder why the Bell cracked?

13 cycles (or intentions) between each consciousness movement. 7 days, 6 nights (Heavens), At each cycle, important events for consciousness occur. Days and nights can still represent ‘negative’ events – for the consciousness as a whole to learn.

These Heavens are identical with what the Jews, Christians and Muslims have called the Seven Days and Six Nights of God's Creation, and also are important among Buddhists and Hindus. The Hindus refer to Creation as the "108 transformations of Shiva" which becomes understandable if the Creation of each of the 9 Underworlds is effected by Thirteen Heavens undergoing 12 transformations between themselves (9 x 12 = 108).

The Creation stories of all the Major religions of the world then present a numerically consistent picture, which, however, can only be understood in light of the calendrical system of the Maya, the most refined of all non-astronomical calendar systems of this planet.

However, as Calleman is persistent to point out, these "days" and "nights" are not to be interpreted as specifically meaning polarities of "good" and "evil", but rather in line with the metaphor of planting a seed and the stages of growth through bearing fruit.

In this concept we should not confuse the old paradigm of duality, Light versus Dark, where Light is always equated with God and Dark represents the work of the Devil.

These are not the intentions of the Mayan Calendar. "good" and "evil" can occur in the Night or the Day, just as it does in physicality. The Aztec names of the various deities governing the days of the cycle of thirteen numbers then seen as a microcosmic representation of the Thirteen Heavens.

Although this is very helpful it has seemed to me that the basic difference between the Seven baktuns of light and the Six baktuns of darkness (we all need nights for sleeping, dreaming, healing and preparation for the new day to come!) could not have passed by unnoticed by such an ingenious people as the Maya.

The evolution of the new consciousness in each Underworld is brought about by a wave movement alternating between Days (representing external change, creativity) and Nights (representing internal change, rest).

During the Days of an Underworld intuitive ways of thinking and acting are strengthened, or made visible, whiled during the Nights the left-brain thinking surfaces. By definition this wave movement also means that evolution is not linear. It is never possible to understand the course of events simply by projecting trends linearly into the future.

9 total movements (Underworlds), from the beginning of the Universe, 16.4BYA to the "end", October 28th, 2011. (popularized as December 21st, 2012 by a different possible start date) – note this is NOT the end of the World or Universe, but most probably a monumental event in history (A MAJOR Paradigm Shift in the direction and consciousness of Humankind).

Sometimes learning takes traditional forms. We hear or read something new and add it to our personal store of knowledge. Yet many people have also experienced a more subtle shift of awareness. At times it seems as if a new idea is simply in the air and that we need only 'tune-in' to be a part of a new consciousness. One hypothesis suggests that if enough individuals are on the same wavelength, awareness will spontaneously spread to new individuals from mind to mind. The idea is that when a certain threshold number of persons adopt a new concept, this concept reaches its apparent maximum level of required conscious acceptance, and then the idea becomes part of the cultural norm, and is received as common or basic knowledge, even seeming as though it is absorbed into the collective global consciousness. Examples of this effect include the acceptance that the Earth is a sphere and NOT flat, the Sun is the center of the Solar System and the Earth is only one of many planets revolving around it, and that the Universe is far larger and far older than taught by religion. These are some of the great Paradigm Shifts in human culture, and demonstrate an evolution of consciousness.-The Hundredth Monkey Effect

The film Between 2Worlds invites us to use a natural way of counting time, as the Mayan Calendar does, so we can all have a greater understanding of conscious and spiritual evolution; to help us align ourselves toward an enlightened state of consciousness at the end of the Mayan Cycle in 2012.

The director of this film, José Jaramillo, along with other Mayan scholars, like Lloydine Arguelles, John Mayor Jenkins, Carl Johan Calleman, Ramón Mendoza, Mayan Shaman Aumrak and Ernest Mirabal reveal why the Mayan Calendar is the key to enlightenment in the road to 2012 while the gregorian calendar was fabricated with the purpose of keeping people in a perpetual state of control and consumerism.

This Calendar shares many of its messages with other spiritual traditions: "We are all One," "Life has a purpose," and "God is Love." Yet it should not be overlooked that it also conveys a unique message: There is a deadline for the creation of the enlightened golden age at the "End of Time" (not the "End of the World" as some self-styled Doomsday prophets claim), and we all need to participate as co-creators in that process.

The Mayan Calendar is the only calendar known to be based on Galactic Cycles. The Mayans claimed they created this calendar in order to monitor the light coming from the center of the Galaxy and how it affected our DNA. We now know through the work of Fritz Popp that DNA not only absorbs light but also appears to be the bridge between our physical and etheric bodies. Modern science now realizes that our DNA directly reflects our consciousness making it possible for us to willfully change our DNA.

The actual pattern of Creation described by the Mayan calendar looks like a pyramid that consists of nine levels or cycles (also called "The Great Cycles").

Nine Underworlds and Thirteen Heavens

Calleman refers to the Great Cycles as Underworlds, but not in the sense, as some have misinterpreted, of "Hell" (like in the Bible), or as in other mythologies as "Hades", "Hel" or "Sheol" (the abode or realm of the Dead), but more in the sense of a journey through the unknown to the known, in a manner as applied by the ancient Maya to mean the "sequentially activated crystalline structures in the Earth's inner core."

In other words, the Maya believed in a strong connection to Mother Earth, and that the journey through the Nine Underworlds was the journey to Enlightenment, which is reflected in the oscillating cycles through the 13 Days & Nights of Light & Darkness which Calleman, likewise, refers to as Heavens, which represent the growth, advancement or evolution through each Underworld cycle. Hence there are Nine Underworlds, and each are divided by Thirteen Heavens (Days & Nights).

His description is that of the Cave of Giant Crystals of Naica, Mexico... which I'm guessing is no coincidence. I wonder how familiar the ancient Maya were with these caves that were only recently "discovered" by explorers and geologists?

Describing the Underworlds as "sequentially activated crystals" also provides a great metaphor for what is literally happening with respect to our Global Consciousness (as well as our individual consciousness) by illustrating each great Cycle (Underworld) as a Crystal that has been Turned ON, one-by-one as we enter it, and showing that the previous Cycles remain in the "ON" position, like walking down a path and lighting each street lamp as you come to it, which once lit, you can faintly see the NEXT lamp you will need to light further down the road.

Once ALL NINE Underworlds are lit, we will have completed ALL levels, and are ready to SHIFT to the NEXT World/Sixth Sun (however it is we envision it to be).

The bottom level or cycle in the pyramid represents the longest period of time, i.e., 16.4 billion years ago and is called the Cellular level of Creation (Matter, 'Big Bang', first live cells). The second level or cycle from the bottom of the pyramid is 20 times shorter, i.e., 840 million years ago and is called the Mammalian level of Creation (first animal, first live births).

Continuing up the pyramid in this fashion with each level becoming 20 times shorter than the latter, the third level, i.e., 41 million years ago is the Family level (first monkeys, family relationships). The fourth level, i.e., 2 million years ago, is the Tribal level (first humans = Homo Sapiens/tools). The fifth level, i.e., 102,000 years ago is the Cultural level (spoken language, agriculture/religion).

The sixth level, i.e., 5,116 years ago is the National level (written language, sovereign nations/laws). The seventh level, i.e., 1755 AD is the planetary level (Industrial Revolution, internet/global economy). The eighth level, The current Galactic cycle takes place over a period of 12.8 years and began January 5, 1999, is the Galactic level (ethical considerations). And the ninth level, February 10, 2011, is the Universal level (conscious co-creation).

Here is a quick run through of the previous cycles and the consciousness that each level produced:

Cellular Creation Cycle (a.k.a. Cellular Underworld) - beginning 16.4 billion years ago, developed the consciousness of Action/Reaction. During this cycle, all of the physical laws, chemical compounds, star fields, then solar systems and planets were developed.

Mammalian Creation Cycle (a.k.a. Mammalian Underworld) - beginning 820 million years ago, developed the consciousness of Stimulus/Response. In this Cycle, individual cells which were the product of the Cellular cycle started developing stimulus/response and the survival mechanism. Stimulus/response differs from action/reaction in the amount of consciousness present.

Familial Creation Cycle (a.k.a. Familial Underworld) - beginning 41 million years ago, developed the consciousness of Stimulus/Individual Response. This Cycle was the recognition of individual consciousness and the establishment of the family relationship (recognition of individuals) rather than a herd, school or flock mentality.

Tribal Creation Cycle (a.k.a. Tribal Underworld) - beginning 2 million years ago, developed the consciousness of Similarities/Differences. In This Cycle, consciousness developed the tool, which we call "The Mind" to detect the similarities and differences in our experience.

Regional or Cultural Creation Cycle (a.k.a. Regional or Cultural Underworld) - beginning 102,000 years ago, developed the consciousness of Reasons. During this Cycle, the leading edge of consciousness was developing reasons for any and every thing.

National or Patriarchal Creation Cycle (a.k.a. National or Patriarchal Underworld) - beginning in the year 3115 B.C., developed the consciousness of Law. These "Shared Reasons," are the basis of all culture. In this Cycle, the concept of law or right and wrong developed, as well as Patriarchal religious and political structure.

Planetary Creation Cycle (a.k.a. Planetary Underworld) - beginning in the year 1755 A.D., developed the consciousness of Power. In this Cycle, which is from 1755 A.D. to present, we have been gathering power derived from natural laws.

Galactic Creation Cycle (a.k.a. Galactic Underworld) - beginning January 5, 1999, developing the consciousness of Ethics. Each time that this pattern has repeated it has done so 20 times faster than the previous cycle. We are now in the Eighth Cycle with only one more to come.

Universal Creation Cycle (a.k.a. Universal Underworld) - beginning February 10, 2011, will be developing the unlimited ability of Conscious Co-Creation.

Looking at the timing and the product of each of the nine cycles listed above, we can see an orderly progression of the development of consciousness and our abilities to interact with the universe.

NOTE: It should be understood that ALL of the cycles (Underworlds) will technically end on the same date: October 28, 2011, but each will still be superseded by the next successive Cycle, so, while the Galactic Cycle began January 5, 1999, it will be superseded by the Universal Cycle which begins on February 10, 2011, but both will end on October 28, 2011.

Also, as each Cycle is divided by 13 days and nights (7 days/6 nights), just as each cycle is 20% of the previous, so, too are the lengths of each day and night shortened to 20%. So, whereas one day or night in the Planetary Cycle lasted approximately 19.7 years, one day (or night) during the Galactic Cycle lasts only about 1 year (360 days). Thus, at a 20 times shorter time-frame each, one day or night during the Universal Cycle will last only 20 physical/astronomical days (i.e., 20 x 13 = 260 days total in the Universal Cycle).

Each day and night of the National Cycle lasts 394.3 years totaling 5,125 years in all. Each day and night of the Planetary Cycle lasts 19.7 years and will last 256 years in all. Each day and night of the Galactic Cycle lasts 360 days totaling 12.8 years in all. Finally, each day and night in the Universal Cycle will only take 20 days totaling 260 days in all, culminating ALL the cycles to completion on October 28, 2011.

This quite handily explains why time seems to be speeding up. Time is NOT speeding up. It is creation itself that is speeding up with more and more happening in less and less time. It is a perceptual issue, due to the increase of stimuli and awareness.

13 DAYS and NIGHTS (HEAVENS) and 14 GOD ENERGIES

The thing to understand about the Days & Nights is that they symbolize the alternating of Light and Darkness as being the over-arching energies of each of the 13 sub-divided periods of the Cycle is that each Day and each Night has a ruling God-Energy that provides us with clues of how to generally understand what sort of overall meaning can be found in the events that transpire therein.

The Aztec names of the Gods are used because many of the Mayan names for the same deities are lost.

These are:

Heaven 1 is Day One (1) of each Cycle and is ruled by the (Aztec) God Xiuhtecuthli, who is the god of fire and time, and his energy always represents "initiation" (symbolizing the action of 'sowing' as in planting seeds) - Initiates.

Heaven 2 is Night One (1) of each Cycle and is ruled by the God Tlaltecuthli, the god of the earth, creating Inner Assimilation of New Wave energy - Creates a Reaction.

Heaven 3 is Day Two (2) and is ruled by Chalchiuhtltcue, goddess of water and birth, and symbolized by "expansion" (germination) - Activates. Heaven 4 is Night Two (2)and is ruled by Tonatiuh, god of warriors and of the sun, and is symbolized by "reaction," causing Resistance against the New Wave energy - Stabilizes.

Heaven 5 is Day Three (3) and is ruled by Tlacolteotl, goddess of love and childbirth, and symbolized by "anchoring" (sprouting) - Empowers.

Heaven 6 is Night Three (3)and is Mictlanecuthli, god of death, again Assimilating the New Wave - Creates Flow.

Heaven 7 is Day Four (4) and is Cinteotl, god of maize and sustenance representing a "high point" (proliferation) - Reveals.

Heaven 8 is Night Four (4) and is Tlaloc, god of rain and war, bringing about an Expansion of the New Wave - Harmonizes.

Heaven 9 is Day Five (5) and is Quetzalcóatl, Lord of the Light, who brings forth a "breakthrough to the Light" (budding) - Creates Forward Movement.

Heaven 10 is Night Five (5) and is Tezcatlipoca, the Lord of Darkness, who brings forth "destruction" - Challenges.

Heaven 11 is Day Six (6) and is Yohualticitl, goddess of birth, creating a "renaissance" period marked by accelerated growth and synthesis in the Cycle (flowering) - Creates Clarity.

Heaven 12 is Night Six (6) and is Tlahuizcalpantecuthli, the god ruling before dawn, and fine tuning the New Protoform - Creates Understanding.

Heaven 13, finally is the Dual-Supreme Deity who rules Day Seven (7) which is, Ometeotl & Omecinatl, the Lord & Lady of Duality (fruition & completion), who, incidentally, remain active since Day 7 of every Cycle is still in play - Completes.

It is helpful to understand that even though each of these "days" and "nights" (Heavens) are represented by a particular "god energy", there is in fact some overlapping of energies from the previous day or night (Heaven) and the coming day or night (Heaven).

For instance, even though the Fifth Day is represented by the energy of Quetzalcóatl, the beginning of the Fifth Day still has residual energies from Tlaloc, whose energies had been waning since the midpoint of the Fourth Night, and from the midpoint of the Fifth Day, when Quetzalcóatl's energy was at it's height (greatest), it began waning thereafter as the energy of the Fifth Night began the slowly building flow of Tezcatlipoca's energy.

These energies flow like and oscillating wave moving UP and DOWN as it goes through each Day and Night. The energies of each respective god reaches its greatest strength at its height (or depth) which is the midpoint or the point that demarks its HALF-WAY date (or lowest point of the inverted Bell Curve).

Thus Tezcatlipoca's energy will be its strongest on May 16, 2008, after which it will begin its upward wane from the top of the Bell Curve and fading into the next energy that follows. This alternating pattern of LIGHT and DARKNESS is repeated through all 13 segments of the cycle, and then begins all over again with Day One (Xiuhtecuthli) when the Universal Cycle begins on February 10, 2011.

Also, it is important to understand that each Day represents a period of ENLIGHTENMENT while each Night represents a period shrouded in DARKNESS. However, as these symbolically represent the natural process of growth, from planting through germination to bearing fruit, all things, even consciousness enters periods of darkness or sleep, where the work from the previous segment is applied and ruminated and finally breaks forth into the sunshine. So while it may seem that each period of "darkness" is a negative, it is really only preparing the way for the next stage of "enlightenment."

As we near the end of the Fifth Day, think back on exactly what occurred. Did not the Lies and Deceit of the Bush Administration become self-evident? Do we not have a clear revelation of what they were truly doing politically and economically?

Of course there are still a couple more months left for more revelations to occur. These energies were the result of the Light Bringer, the Plumed Serpent-god Quetzalcóatl called Kukulkán by the Maya. Quetzalcóatl is what we might call the Christ Energy, or the anointed one of Revelation!

So now that we have the TRUTH within us to guide us and keep us "In the Light", and we are ready for the Fifth Night and the deceitful and destructive Lord of Darkness, the Jaguar-god Tezcatlipoca, whose name means "smoking mirror" (called Hurakán by the Maya, from which we get the modern word "hurricane"). It is also interesting to note that in ancient Aztec lore, Quetzalcóatl and Tezcatlipoca were rivals (hence the classic tale of "Light vs. Darkness".

FIFTH NIGHT of the GALACTIC UNDERWORLD begins Nov. 19, 2007

It is important to understand that this is generally NOT a good energy. This period from November 19, 2007 through November 12, 2008, as shown above, is ruled by the god of Darkness and bringer of destruction. To better understand this period of the Cycle, it may help to look back at previous cycles and what notable events occurred during their Fifth Nights.

PLANETARY CYCLE (AD 1932) = Rise of Adolf Hitler (AD 1933), Stalinism, World War II, Atomic Weapons, The Great Depression (AD 1929 in U.S.; AD 1931-1932 in Europe).

NATIONAL CYCLE (AD 434) = Invention of "Original Sin," humanity's inherent unworthiness, by St. Augustine (AD 420), Collapse of the Roman Civilization (AD 476), Attila & the Hunnic Empire (AD 434 - 453), Dark Ages (AD 476 - 1000).

REGIONAL CYCLE (32,000 Years Ago) = Extinction of the Neanderthals (Homo neanderthalensis).

HUMAN CYCLE (640,000 YA) = Illinoisan Ice Age (600,000 YA).

MAMMALIAN CYCLE (252 Million YA) = Perm-Triassic extinction (251 MYA) 97% of all species extinct.

CELLULAR CYCLE (5.0 Billion YA) = Meteor bombardment of the earth (4.5 -3.8 BYA).

This should help clarify what "destruction" has meant in the past, and can serve as an indicator of what we should expect over the course of the next 13 months. Even so, there are three wonderful things we should always remember: One, this time, the 5th Night will only last 360 days (moving into the 6th Day beginning Nov. 13, 2008, the 6th Night Nov. 8, 2009 and the 7th Day Nov. 3, 2010), Two that each of the successive cycles were inherently milder (to use the phrase lightly) than the previous, i.e., less destructive in it's overall outcome, and Three, as Children of the Light, we do not live in FEAR or allow Darkness to control our motives and emotions. We know there is Light at the end of the tunnel, and that, in truth, there is no death, only a transition to another experience of life.

Dr. Calleman speculates the Fifth Night could manifest a "Deep crisis for global materialistic culture; destructive reaction; 'Armageddon'; and the European Union and Germany in the center of drama."

It’s pretty clear that there is indeed a crisis in the materialistic culture happening in the Fifth Night with the USA currency, oil, banking, housing, etc. The road is being paved for the North America Union as inevitable, and the destruction of the US Dollar.

When you really think about it, it is pretty damn remarkable when you consider that this generation, those of us who were born before 1999, will be the first people in the entire history of Earth to actually live through three different Great Cycles in the Mayan Calendar.

The Planetary Cycle began in the year 1755 AD and was succeeded by the Galactic Cycle (which we are still currently riding out) on January 5, 1999, and will be succeeded by the Universal Cycle on February 10, 2011, ending on October 28, 2011 and leading into a whole new reality! This is unprecedented in all of human history as it was never possible before now.

During the Planetary Cycle each day and each night lasted about 19.7 years and spanned the time between 1755 and 1999 (though we remain in the 7th Day of the Planetary Cycle as it will not end until 2011).

No one born prior to 1755 is still living today. But each Heaven (Day or Night) of the Galactic Underworld/Cycle is only 360 days in length, so it is very easily possible for a large number of persons born during the Galactic or even during the Planetary Underworld/Cycle to remain alive throughout the rest of the Galactic Cycle, and entirely plausible they would live through the entire 260 days of the Universal Underworld/Cycle, too.

My friend Pholus who has been studying Calleman's work for the past 2 years and has shared his knowledge with me, find Calleman's work insightful, both scholarly & spiritually, and very helpful in understanding what is "happening" around us. When things become overwhelming, Pholus likes to think of the Biblical phrase where Jesus said that, "we are in the world, but not of the world" (John 17:14-16).

As for why you might be sensing the darkness growing has a lot to do with how the "God Energies" work. What happens is that as each new Heaven (DAY or NIGHT) begins, the energy which the God represents begins building, and building, and building until it reaches it climax at the Midpoint of that period (which, in the case of the Fifth Day, was reached in May 22 of 2007), then it begins its decline until the beginning of the next period when we will probably sense the rising of of light and revelation energies.

So, which LIGHT & REVELATION were the major energies of the Fifth Day, the Light began to dim after May and is getting dimmer or we might see it as the Truths that were so clear as of May are now beginning to slip back into the background as things begin setting up for the Fifth Night of Darkness. In mid-November 2007, as the Fifth Night begins, the Darkness will reassert itself as the controlling energy and will begin building and building to its crescendo by May 16, 2008, where apparently "All Hell will break loose" (whatever that will come to mean).

So, what you are probably really feeling is the Light dimming, and, as you noted, your soul is sensing what is coming. All the revelations that were so clear (and are still clear to you and me) back around May, and should have been such a prime motivator for real CHANGE in the world, is fading back into obscurity. People are slipping back into their false sense of security as they are lulled back into stressing over the mundane, rather than the real issues driving their lives.

Two things I do know is that in Switzerland, CERN (the European Organization for Nuclear Research) is scheduled to begin some large-scale physics experiments involving the new LHC (Large Hadron Collider) in May of 2008, and the End of the Fifth Night coincides with the November 2008 USA Presidential Election. I don't know if there are any "clues" to be found there, but it is interesting. Of course, nothing at all related to these events may have any detrimental effects, and even if they do, their total result will be less serious than in Cycles (Underworlds) past during the same phases (Heavens).

There was a point where I was kinda disappointed in Calleman's work as part of the allusion to the Fifth Day was that the "truth" about UFOs & ETs was supposed to come to Light. I know that, for a vast number of people, which was interpreted as meaning there would be a Mass Landing that the Government could no longer deny. But that didn't happen. Doubt crept into my thinking until it dawned on me... The TRUTH did come out!!! Did not France, Russia and even Mexico and Italy "come out" about their "secret UFO files"? Did not Col. Philip Corso reveal the truth about his covert mission in "The Day After Roswell" before he died? Did not many, many whistle blowers come out? Isn't the media, for the most part, actually treating UFO sightings with much more frequency and curiosity if not total respect? Is not the tremendous search for Extra-Solar planets and life on Mars bringing the whole idea that Extra-Terrestrial Life is not only possible, but CERTAIN?

It's not so important about WHEN (what exact dates) these revelations were first documented, its WHEN they became part of the common AWARENESS of humankind. That is the mark of the God Energy. It is the same as with the truth behind 9/11 and the role of the Bush Administration, its WHEN the vast majority of people began "acknowledging" the truth, which is certainly what has happened over the past year (Look at Bush's ratings, and the Gonzales congressional hearings, etc.). Of course, as we go into the Fifth Night, much of this will be put on the back-burner, if not entirely forgotten, as OTHER things become more imminent, probably due to seemingly more pressing issues (all diversions to keep us from paying attention to the underlying truth).

The fact that the Fifth Night is only 360 days long is both a Blessing and a Curse. A blessing, of course, because it is only a Year's length and then we enter the Light again, but a Curse, because, unlike past Great Cycles, which took years, and even THOUSANDS of years to build to their crescendos, This period's time will only take 180 days to reach it. Things are obviously happening at a much more rapid-fire pace, and, only those who have some "awareness" of what is REALLY going on (spiritually-speaking) will have any sense of relief. The rest, those who are asleep, will simply think things are just going to keep getting worse, and worse and worse.

It's helpful to remember that the whole purpose of the Mayan Calendar is NOT an instrument for tracking the procession of time as previously thought, but is a meter and measure of the evolution of human consciousness.

Our AWARENESS of what is going on is what is important, and it is that fact that helps us best process the stimuli and effectively deal with it on a spiritual level rather than feeling trapped as victims.

As the facts demonstrate, the Fifth Night is the same energy that brought in Hitler & Death Camps and World War, Plagues & the Inquisition of the Dark Ages, Collapse of the Roman Civilization, Meteor Bombardment, Ice Age, widespread Species Extinction (even the entire race of Neanderthals), and so forth, we don't know specifically what THIS Fifth Night will truly mean for us and the global economy.

I know many people are talking about ETs coming to our rescue, and that may actually happen, but it is also quite plausible that they will NOT interfere as it is really OUR responsibility to deal with our OWN stupidity. WE ARE THE ONES who need to overcome our nature to HATE and KILL each other before we can expect to be welcomed with open arms into the Galactic Community.

If they should interfere with our Consciousness Evolution, where's the real "change" in our psyche going to actually occur? Sure, many of us already have changed on an individual level or even in groups, but the change has got to be GLOBAL and involve EVERY soul! There will indeed be those who, no matter how much TRUTH is presented before them, they will NEVER relent, and thus, there will be a "cut-off" where it can only be presumed that they've been given EVERY conceivable chance to Awaken, but they have chosen NOT to, and they will be "Left Behind." Things are in motion.

Evolution is occurring and it's an unstoppable force.

There is a phenomenal grass-roots undercurrent of Spiritual Awakening unlike anything in recorded history. This Awakening has no established leader, dogma or rules, but is guided by each individual's own desire to demonstrate Unconditional Love and Light. This is something the "establishment" cannot possibly control (though they certainly will TRY.... RFID, Marshall Law, imprisonment and torture, etc.). But this is far greater than they realize. It's unprecedented! We are truly living in EXCITING times.

Be well and remember the Law of Attraction... If you Fear, you will attract Fear. If you are Love, you will attract Love. Like attracts Like.

FALL OF THE MESOAMERICAN CULTURES

The Toltecs had a dualistic belief system. Quetzalcóatl's opposite was Tezcatlipoca, who supposedly sent Quetzalcóatl into exile. Alternatively, he left willingly on a raft of snakes, promising to return. When the Aztecs adopted the culture of the Toltecs, they made twin gods of Tezcatlipoca and Quetzalcóatl, opposite and equal; Quetzalcóatl was also called White Tezcatlipoca, to contrast him to the black Tezcatlipoca. Together, they created the world; Tezcatlipoca lost his foot in that process.

The scenario for the rise and fall of Quetzalcóatl points to an inherent weakness in the ancient Mesoamerican spirituality. Thus, as the tide started to turn toward the new NIGHT of baktun 11 (of the National Cycle), so did the priests and their cults, who now became focused on the DARK principle, Tezcatlipoca. The priests of Tezcatlipoca came, at least in the Toltec capital of Tula, to be dominating in the later half of baktun 10.

If there were different priesthoods, and their relative strength varied with the Heaven ruling at a particular time, then it seems that these priesthoods failed to realize the basic unity of Creation. When human beings start to worship deities that are seen as independently acting and sometimes competing forces, as evidently was the case with the Toltecs and Aztecs, then they can no longer be qualified as monotheists. Ultimately, this polytheism and inability to see the unity beyond the changing tides of manifest Creation became a paramount spiritual factor behind the downfall of Mesoamerican culture.

The Europeans, in contrast , partly by denying the existence of the yin/yang duality and an ongoing divine process of Creation with its ups and downs, were able to maintain the belief in the basic unity of Creation and in the One God even during the darkness of the NIGHTS. It seems obvious that the belief in one god has the advantage of maintaining social unity as well as cultural and religious continuity. Such a unity may be a strength, both on the part of a nation and on the part of a human individual, in a reality whose evolution appears to be determined by the alternating power of Tezcatlipoca and his twin, Quetzalcóatl.

To recognize, as the Christians did, that there is a supreme deity even beyond the LIGHT/DARKNESS duality with whom to seek a direct relationship became a prime factor in strengthening the Europeans in the conquest of America. This is by no means to say the conquistadors were not brutal, but it may serve to explain why small bands were successful in bringing about the downfall of huge empires.

Even so, Christianity has its innate problems with the relationship between the LIGHT and DARKNESS where Satan is their view of the Dark Force and, as demonstrated by the Papacy and the Inquisition, there is a thought that the Dark principle should not exist, and hence there has often been a desire to deny or erase it.

This type of 'there is only one right way -- destroy the dark forces' attitude is thus reflected already in the creation myth of Rome (Romulus and Remus), demonstrating the ambition of the Roman Emperors to rule the world, an ambition Christianity, at times, may have inherited, along with the former Roman empire.

Mayan Calendar END-DATE: 2012 or 2011?

Invariably, when discussing the Mayan Calendar and the coming End of the Calendar, the question arises as to WHY Carl Johan Calleman's end date of October 28, 2011 seems to vary from the accepted or usually heard end date December 21, 2012?

This is a valid question and one that should be explored.

Over the decades much discussion has focused on finding the exact correlation between the Mayan Long Count and the Gregorian calendar. Most researchers in the field have now come to agree that the so-called GMT correlation, placing the beginning of the Long Count 4 Ahau 8 Cumku on the Julian day 584 283, August 11, 3114 BC, is correct. This means by consequence that it will end on December 21, 2012 and most, such as Jose Arguelles, John Jenkins and Terence McKenna, who have taken an interest in the calendar of the Maya, have endorsed this date as the end of the current cycle.

Most authors and even more casual dabblers, claim there is great significance in the 2012 date, and a great many of them link it to the Doomsday prophecies as interpreted by Fundamentalist Christianity, which seeks to manifest a great Apocalypse of War, Pestilence, Famine and Death in order to see the return of Christ.

Of course these prophecies are important to the Christian who views the Book of Revelation as locked and loaded and they simply point to the Mayan Calendar as a peripheral footnote that fits nicely into their time-table of Doom and Gloom.

Other, more scholarly works of study, which found there understanding in the "traditional" views of the Mayan Calendar, can point to many verifiable works that do indeed point out that the Mayan LONG-COUNT calendar does indeed END on December 21, 2012. Sadly, most people who have a vested interest in the 2012 date also tend to have a very pessimistic view of what is to happen at the End of that time (i.e. Doomsday, Armageddon, Some form of dire disaster wrecking havoc with most of the Earth and her lifeforms), thus miss out on the optimistic perspective of Conscious Evolution and an expanded awareness of our place in the Universe and how to co-create (re-imagine) the future from of the shackles of limitation and religious indoctrination.

If it is true that, as the Law of Attraction indicates, we Attract that which we Focus Upon, then it would do us well to remember this when we decide what it is we want in the future.

Calleman agrees that this calendar does indeed end December 21, 2012, but this is NOT the end date which he is counting when referencing the End of the Universal Underworld and the Evolution of Cosmic Consciousness.

The latter date is the one that we still most commonly hear, and it is indeed correct as far as archaeology goes. To understand the divergence between these dates, note that the ending date of the Long Count depends on its date of beginning, which was set by the Maya. The ancient Mayan inscriptions do not tell of what will happen at the end of the Long Count, but about what happened at its beginning, when the First Father raised the World Tree.

Even if the status of human beings as puppets of creation disappears through the influence of this energy, it seems unlikely that this will immediately be expressed in stable forms. Hence the year 2012 may also be a period during which many people will have to find ways of adapting to the new frame of cosmic consciousness. If nothing else, we will need to adapt to the fact that everyone around is now enlightened and has full faith that a millennium of peace, the Golden Solar Age, has finally dawned on Earth. This does not mean that a "new cycle" will begin. It is the end of cycles.

With the ego slain in the Universal Underworld, the Heavens will favor a consciousness that is devoid of inner conflicts and produces no external conflicts. They year 2012 in particular, however will be required for this enlightened state to settle in a number of individuals who may not have fully prepared for it. For the final settling of the enlightened consciousness of the Universal Underworld, the celebrations on the occasion of the Venus transit of June 6, 2012, will be very important. They will be expressions of gratitude to the divine cosmos for having brought us to where we are.

Both Mayan and Christian sources talk about an end to death at the end of time, and Eastern traditions talk about the enlightened state as deathless. The ancient traditions all point in the same direction: a timeless, enlightened state of cosmic consciousness. We may then rightly ask, who in such a state needs a calendar?

As Calleman says, and I agree, "I am convinced people will become increasingly aware of the wave movement of the Galactic Underworld and the alternating powers of East and West. As people become aware of this those that wish for the world to come to a balance will hope that October 28, 2011 is the end date. Those that want Western dominance to be perpetuated on the other hand will wish for a final strengthening of the West to occur during the year 2012, and so will set the end point at Dec 21, 2012. Giving the important future political implications of the Mayan calendar the latter end date may thus well come to be used in political contexts (and of course be supported by established archaeological quarters who "know" that the end date is Dec 21, 2012)."

Basically it amounts to whether you want to end the with the Energy of the Christ (Quetzalcóatl/Kukulkán) Revelation, Light and Creation or that of the Devil (Tezcatlipoca/Hurakán) Deception, Darkness and Destruction. In other words, the War between Dark and Light will wage on until the very end.

What happens between October 28, 2011 and December 21, 2012?

Well, one curiosity includes the next Solar Maximum which is scheduled to occur between 2011-2012. The last solar maximum was in 2001. The next solar maximum expected between 2011 -2012. On March 10, 2006 NASA researchers announced that the next cycle would be the strongest since the historic maximum in 1958 in which northern lights could be seen as far south as Mexico. Clearly, all calendars throughout the world are arbitrary man-made constructions. Generally, they are based on alignment with particular celestial phenomena such as the solar or lunar year. Mayan calendars are no exception and currently the Mayan calendar tradition calls attention to the day we call December 21 , 2012. The Maya have been aware for hundreds of years that on that Winter solstice day, a unique astronomical event will occur: a very rare conjunction of the Sun with the ecliptic of the Milky Way galaxy.

In the direction EAST, universally acknowledged as the place of new beginnings, the Maya place the hieroglyph CHICCHAN (pronunciation: cheek'chan). CHICCHAN is the serpent mind, the mind that is constantly renewed and regenerated, through a process of shedding what no longer serves us. The physical body itself can be seen as an evolutionary skin periodically released, as one life ends and another begins. It is a body fueled ultimately by a form of solar energy the Maya call kultunlilni.

Kultunlilni is the vital life force empowering all human growth and development. This crucial life-force is the same as what is known in Hindu cosmology as the serpent power: kundalini. Kundalini is the great evolutionary force making of each body and its occupant, a potentially powerful source of solar wisdom. Important for us to remember, however, is that this primary, very intimate and very powerful source of wisdom is only accessible to the extent that we are able to hear what our bodies, as carriers of its sacred gift, are actually telling us. Inevitably in this process, we turn to those with whom we feel a strong attraction or affinity.

Could it be that October 28, 2011 opens an energy gateway symbolized by the "Return of the Plumed Serpent, Quetzalcóatl" and that this energy rises to it maximum by December 21, 2012 and Earth moves into the Time of the Sixth Sun?
