Right Under Our Feet

Three times in my life, I have tried to walk away from this path, and forget about everything I have learned. The things that I have seen were so out of whack, were crazy….were so wrong.

What inevitably happened every time I tried to walk away from this path is that everything else in my life would be taken away from me, and this was the only path I could take. This path was the only thing left. I had no other choice.

Yes anger and resentment do build up especially when you see and document as much corruption… as much dishonestly…. as much illegality ….as much murder…. as much betrayal… as I have from people who pretend to be otherwise.

I knew wherever this path chose to go, I must follow it. And I have been on this journey for sometime…..and most recently saw a documentary, ‘Collapse’, which inspired me to do this post. We’re so busy on our individual paths that we sometimes overlook what is beneath our feet…….

……the soil is the place from which all plant matter gets its nutrients. And if you keep sucking the nutrients out the soil -- its useless.

For all of history, the way the soil was replenished and the nutrients were returned in some measure to the soil, was that plant matter was allowed to decay to compost to restock the soil. That’s why crop rotation is so important you may have one crop of celery which will suck certain chemicals out of the soil and crop wheat or something else may return those chemicals so that the soil maintains a balance.

It’s kind of sad because we as a species have become so disconnected from the earth. We don’t have any real contact with the earth, we don’t have any sense of its functions its feel, its nature, its seasons its timing.

First of all, the top soil on which food is grown now is nothing more than a sponge onto which we pour chemicals that we get from oil and natural gas, and without those chemicals, the soil has been turned into a Junkie -- the soil is worthless

So when you plant a crop now, you drive an oil powered machine -- it drives along and it plows. Then you drive another oil powered machine -- that drives along and it plants. And then you irrigate. The water is pumped by pumps that are powered by Electricity, which comes from coal or natural gas.

So next thing you do is come along and fertilize the soil. All fertilizers are made from ammonia, and the feed stock from ammonia is natural gas. So you have ammonium nitrate fertilizers that are then sprayed on by another oil powered machine. Then the crop dusters come along -- that are powered by oil that spray pesticides that are all made from petroleum.

Then when it’s time to harvest the food, you drive another oil powered machine and you harvest it, and use another oil powered machine to drive it to a place where it’s processed. Then you wrap it up in plastic, which is oil. You then put it in another oil power machine and you drive it x number of miles to a food distributing plant, then to supermarkets and you purchase it. Paper or Plastic?

The way food is grown produced and moved around the world is an enormous waste of hydro carbon energy which does not make sense.

Why do we have strawberries from Chile? Why do we have Spinach from China? Why do we ship Anchovies half way around the world to be packaged then to be shipped back to us? There are 10 calories of hydro carbon energy in every calorie of food consumed in the industrialized world.

The people who have run the planet to this point and who are running the planet now are losing control.

Fundamental facts folks!

What I see now is the end of a paradigm that is as cataclysmic as the asteroid event that killed almost all the life here on earth, including all the dinosaurs.

If you know anything about Darwinism, basically what it said was that those species that had evolved, or were able to adapt to changing circumstances, were able to survive, and those that were not equipped or had become evolutionary dead ends were destined to die.

Right now we are witnessing actual Darwinism.

If you’re in a camp with a bunch of campers and a bear attacks, you don’t have to be faster than the bear, you only have to be faster than the slowest camper.  All of these people exist on this planet only because of oil. That’s it. So it’s axiomatic if you take away the oil, all the population goes as well.

This may be viewed as the stock market as well.

I think it’s a mistake to ask if people and make all people the same as one entity. When you’re faced with an overwhelming life threatening crisis as in titanic going to be hit by an iceberg and you happen to be aware before anyone else -- that the ship is going to sink and there are not enough lifeboats, but you know how to build them.

You’re likely to run across 3 types of passenger. You’ll run across a type that is a deer in headlights. Another is the type that says “we get it, the ship is going to sink....show us what to do.”   The other type of passenger is the kind that says, “This is the titanic. It’s absolutely unfucking sinkable…so we are going back to the bar to have a drink and all you doomsday sayers can take a hike!”

If you’re the one who knows how to make lifeboats, which group of people are you going to help?

No amount of technology and no amount of human ingenuity can possibly overturn the laws of physics. The laws which govern this planet. Those are immutable and real which science has never been able to do that. Man’s great arrogance -- one for which he is paying a price …is that man could become god and revoke somehow the laws of the universe.

What I have learned to do over the course of my life to balance the horror in this world, by sharing my experiences and somehow be a small part of your awakening consciousness-- I share the truth.

In my previous post of the 3 Stages of Truth, you can clearly see that we are in the violent opposition stage, just barely crossing the threshold. We have to get through this stage.The final stage is acceptance, and it’s only really when people who have reached the point of acceptance that; you can find those people who are like those on the titanic saying….

“…..ok, show me how to build a lifeboat”
